Plot: World heavyweight boxing champion Rocky Balboa returns home to Philadelphia to a hero’s welcome after defeating Ivan Drago in a brutal match. Rocky soon discovers that his match with Drago has left him with damage to his brain, and his fortune, which he had entrusted to his wife Adrian’s brother Paulie, has been squandered by an incompetent accountant. In debt to the IRS, Rocky is forced to sell most of his possessions, including his mansion. Rocky, Adrian, and their son Rocky Balboa Jr, move back to Rocky’s old neighborhood in South Philadelphia. Adjustment to the dramatically different lifestyle proves to be more difficult for Rocky Balboa Jr than it is for Rocky and Adrian. Junior quickly becomes involved with a bad crowd, and encounters a bully. Meanwhile, financially desperate Rocky is tempted to re-enter the ring when shady promoter George Washington Duke offers him a huge amount of money to defend his title. Adrian insists that Rocky not risk his life by returning to the ring. Rocky’s financial future looks bleak, until he is approached by a young boxer named Tommy “Machine” Gunn, who idolizes Rocky and begs Rocky to help him train. Rocky agrees to train Tommy, but this hurts Rocky’s relationship with Junior, who believes Rocky is neglecting him in favor of Tommy. Junior becomes even more deeply involved with the bad crowd that he has fallen into. Junior even undergoes training and beats up the bully who was harassing him. After Tommy wins his first few matches, he starts becoming arrogant. When Tommy, who wants a high profile match against a champion, arrogantly decides that Rocky is not moving him up quickly enough, an impatient Tommy turns his back on Rocky and hires Duke as his new manager. While this gives Rocky and Junior the chance they need to work things out with each other, Tommy wins a belt, and still doesn’t have the respect that he’s arrogantly looking for because fans always boo him. Duke tells Tommy that the only way to get the respect Tommy wants would be to beat Rocky one-on-one, so Duke and Tommy find Rocky at a bar, and Tommy challenges Rocky to a street fight that may put Rocky’s life on the line.

James Jeffries vs Rocky Marciano?
heavyweight 15rds

 GOOD ONE!

For all his Power, Rocky couldn’t hurt Big Jeff with a bat. He’d take everything Rocky throws at his. The problem for Jeffries is that Rocky would never give up trying.

It’s amazing to see how many punches Rocky MISSES but keeps coming. Look at the films. He’s like one of those One Gear Tanks. You’re backing, backing, backing and he keeps Coming, Coming, Coming.

Jeffries would push Rocky back and likely score an early knockdown. Big Jeff also didn’t know the meaning of the world quit. He matches Rocky in nearly every offensive category, Power, Stamina, Slightly better Chin, Endurance.

Ironically, the winner would be determined by something NEITHER man is very good at. Speed and Defense.

Towards the later rounds, Rocky would simply be the busier fighter. He’d fight on the inside and roll with many of Jeff’s punches, something Big Jeff never learned.

The difference boils down to the era that each fought. During his time, there are so many fundamentals most fighters never learned. If they learned in the same era, Big Jeff would beat Rocky. It would be a simple case of a man facing his near mirror image, only Bigger and Stronger.

The difference is that, after a certain point in the fight, Rocky usually realizes he can’t take so much punishment all night long. He begins to roll with punches, lessening the effect. This wouldn’t be very hard to do against Jeff.

In the end, Rocky simply lands more punches.

Marciano W15 Unanimous-Close.

 galactus177 | Feb 01, 2010

 marciano over 15 rounds.
maurice | Jan 31, 2010

Jim Jeffries in his prime fought a lot like Marciano out of a crouch and would wing powerful hooks to the body and head. He like Marciano had great stamina and endurance. Jeffries would definetly have the size advantage and possibly the strnegth advantage too but I doubt he or anyone else would have been sucessful in backing Rocky up. I also believe Marciano had more power than Jeffries and a much better defense. (see Marciano underrated defense on youtube) This would have been a brutal fight with neither man given an inch to the other with a lot of heavy shots being thrown and landed. Jefries would do quite well and land some great shots vs Marciano but it wouldn’t be enough to discourage or stop the Brockton Blockbuster who would find a way to finally chop down the larger Jeffries and win by 12th round technical knockout.
toughguy2 | Jan 31, 2010

im a huge rocky fan but if he were to fight the fighters of today he would lose very badly now guys are faster, stronger and more athletic
I am your curse; your impending doom
As well as the empty feeling in your room.
I am the disposal of your humanity
The corruptor of your sanity
The producer of your calamity,
The reason for your afflictions,
The judge of your convictions.
I am the pulse of your existence
The death of your persistence,
The eternity of your failed resistance.
I am the stutter of your speech
The tremble in your bones
The eerie echo of your pain-filled moans.
I am the sound you hear when no ones there,
The faintest whisper,
The unseen glare.
I am the crashing of your system,
The disconnecting of your server
The mastermind behind this malevolent fervor.
I am the thoughts trapped inside your malignant mind,
There I’ll be, I’ll stay behind.

I had to do a I Am poem once for school. However add some action too it. Add a piece about throwing puma turds on roofs.

 Chris G | Jun 13, 2007

It flowed really well, sounds great.
The type of poems I prefer are a little different but this is interesting.
great work.
Sadie | Jun 13, 2007

good poem but I think when you got to the lines
I am the crashing of your system,
The disconnecting of your server
you completely changed the feel of the whole poem.

Is this a poem of self hatred?
klaryuk | Jun 13, 2007

you don’t need critiquing, as one of my teachers told me:
"If you find yourself one day thinking of a song in your head and the only thing you can do is putting that song to pen, your a musical artist. Doesn’t matter how much experience you’ve had, some of the most experienced song writers write the worse songs. But if you find you can’t stop writing songs then music is in your veins and in your heart."
Chris P | Jun 13, 2007

I know that it was meant to rhyme, but I think it over-rhymed if there is such a thing.

I think that a good poem should flow well but not necessarily ALWAYS rhyme. Although rhyming is fine, I just feel that it should appear natural and not forced. I think too much rhyming can take the readers mind off the message of the poem so that instead of reading it they are just anticipating the next rhyme.
?&? | Jun 13, 2007

i thought your poem was full of conviction deep and meaningful yet some what haunting and i think you’ve felt pain in your life and what better way to get it out than to channel your hurt through your words and as the saying goes the pen is mightier than the sword well done you
graham p | Jun 13, 2007

hmmm Is this your first time to write poetry?
Excellently written. Great poem.

I think it gave such contemporary ideas like "crashing
systems," "disconnecting" – "server"s.
a new palpable and deeper meaning than what these concepts are usually used for.

delicious.
Jon C | Jun 13, 2007

I am usually a very tough critic but that was amazing! keep it the way it is unless it doesnt thoroughly depict your feelings and thoughts in which case change it to what you ment. AMAZING JOB!!!
shannon | Jun 13, 2007

 It’s a nice poem.

Should i get NCAA football 10?
does it have the same graphics like madden 10?? at least sorta… in nfl the atmosphere is not really like the atmosphere in a huge college football game. and plus i want to play Road To Glory and take a team from like 56 national rank to the top 25 poll…

so should i get this game for 360?

why do numbers end with "-st" "-rd" "-th" or "-nd"?
is there a specific meaning or category for their suffex [like in a way thats similar to things like using "-ed" for past tense and "-ing" for current actions]? an example i can think of to compare with is chemisty. if it ends with something like "-ium" you know what category it belongs to. is it the same with numbers?

are words like "seventh" and "eight" in a different category than "third" and "first"?i know the numbers are either a prime number or composite number, but are there more categories? [i know this a random question, but i need to know!]- so what does their suffux represent? if someone can give me a link that explains why they are used that way, and what the root word might be or its origin, it would be a major help. the curiosity is driving me crazy!

Taurus model 94 22lr Revolver?
thinking about buying a new Taurus model 94 22lr Revolver.

it has a 2 inch barrell, its a nine shot, color blue steel, has a rubber grip. is this a good gun ? and the price is ($300) new in box. is this good price or not ?
Thanks.

Good for what? Squirrel hunting, shooting tin cans? Sure. Self defense? NO, no .22 is suitable for defense.
J | Feb 03, 2010

I guess it dedends on what you are buying it for:
1. The price is on the mark OK.
2. 2 in barrels are good for concealment only, they are too short for target or pleasureable plinking.
3. The 22lr cartridge is awful light for any form of self defense, however any gun is better than no gun.
4. Taurus, while they make a good gun, does not hold the resale value like a S&W.
