All my plants have been destroyed,Why?
It has taken me 15 years to get my back yard to a standard that i find nice and relaxing,with hanging baskets,ivy growing up the walls,a cordyline in a pot,clematis,fatsia-japonica,2 hollybushes,climbing rose.
I have found out that it looks like they were destroyed by something called ‘Vine Weevil’,does anyone have any advice or comments on this subject please.All my plants have been disposed of now but any advice on my new one and how to prevent/look out for this happening again,would be greatly appreciated,.Thank you,Adam.
Vine weevil is a beetle that can attack all plants, but especially plants grown in containers. The adult weevils eat plant leaves but the grubs feed on plant roots, causing wilting, and often plant death. Plants growing in the open ground are less susceptible.
Adult weevils cause irregular-shaped notches in leaf margins during the summer. The plump white legless grubs have light brown heads and are up to 1cm (3/8in) long. They are likely to be found among the roots.
Once you have the vine weevil grubs, they will turn into adult beetles and they will lay more eggs that turn into more grubs. You have to kill them all. There are all sorts of stuff you can buy, chemical and non-chemical. You might try Nemasys Vine Weevil Killer that is a natural product containing microscopic worms (nematodes) that seek out and kill the vine weevil larvae.

wow sounds like a horror movie
i dont know much about gardening but i remember my mother doing something reallt interesting…
once she got rid of all the plants…nothing else but soil there…she keep watering the ‘garden’ so the weeds could keep growing…as soon as she would spot one, she would get rid of them…she did that until she made sure there were no ‘hidden’ weed seeds.
